Arizona River Preserve - New Trails - Summer Hours

Wednesday May 10, 2006
The Hassayampa River Preserve near Wickenburg, Arizona will be open this summer. Last summer, due to fire danger, they were closed. That was a big disappointment to birders, nature lovers and those of us who love to watch the ebb and flow of this river in the desert. From May 17th through September 19th, the preserve will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7am - 11am. When I was up there a couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed the new trail across the river the Lion's Club built. Imagine crossing a crystal clear running stream in the middle of the hot desert! The Lion's Club built little wooden ramps across the river. Stop awhile and marvel at the plants and fish beneath your feet. The preserve is worth a trip.
