Utah's Iceberg Drive Inn Attracts Tired Hikers on a Road Trip

Monday May 29, 2006
As our van pulled into the driveway, we reminisced about our trip to Zion and Bryce National Parks. We were tired yet eagerly planning another road trip to Utah. One of our fondest memories was of savoring the famous Iceberg Drive Inn milkshake. While the original drive-in is in Salt Lake City, these '60's style burger joints will be popping up all over in the near future. Rumor has it that there will be Iceberg Drive Inns as far afield as Phoenix and Las Vegas. Why did we seek out these little restaurants? Our friend Mary insisted that their thick milkshakes were the best in the world. Yes, they were excellent and well worth a detour. But you had better be hungry. The "mini" milkshake is just about the same size as the gigantic regular. These milkshakes are so thick you have to eat them with a spoon.
