Snakes in Theater, Snakes in Garages, Snakes Everywhere?
Wednesday August 23, 2006
Interestingly, the movie, "Snakes on Plane," was released in August. In the Southwest, August is a time when homeowners are on the lookout for visits from their desert friends. According to KPHO News out of Phoenix, "August is the prime month for bull snakes and rattlesnakes to slither through naturally landscaped neighborhoods, and Scottsdale fire stations have received more than 70 snake removal calls in the past two weeks." Added to the concerns of homeowners is the rumor that someone, perhaps a deranged teenager, let some rattlesnakes loose in a theater during the showing of "Snakes on Plane." Yes, there was a snake found in an hallway outside the theater, but officials are now saying that this is just one of those August visitors from the desert who slithered in there on his own. Let's put this in perspective. According to Judy Hedding, About Phoenix, writer, "most people live their entire lives in Arizona and never see even one, except maybe at the Phoenix Zoo." Here's what you need to know about rattlesnakes.
