Red Rocks, Suite Resort, Quaint Shops and Blue, Blue Sky - Day #1 in Sedona
Sunday September 17, 2006
As I headed down Highway 179 into Sedona, one thing stood out in my mind, the charred remains of the Brins Wildfire were nowhere to be found. I had prepared myself for a shock, but on this road the foliage was green, the rocks were red, and the sky was bright blue... just perfect! I arrived at my resort for the night (I am reviewing 3 resorts, one each day), Los Abrigados Resort and Spa. Los Abrigados is part of the ILX Vacaton Club system but you can rent a suite on your own. The property is sprawling, full of trees and definitely has the Southwest look. My first impression is that it would be a great place to bring a family. The suites are fully appointed and very spacious and there are lots of activities for kids. The creekside mini-golf looked great. I am still exploring. This afternoon I wound my way through Tlaquepaque, the very quaint and scenic shopping village that is adjacent to the resort. While the front desk staff was very efficient and welcoming, they provided little information on what I could anticipate here. So I am reviewing the literature in the room and taking some exploratory walks. More tomorrow.Photo: Los Abrigados Lobby, Copyright: Elizabeth R. Mitchell
