Arising from the Desert Dust, the Times Square of the West?

Friday November 17, 2006
The growth in the West Valley of Phoenix is amazing to watch. First we watched as the space-ship like Cardinal's Stadium grew from the dusty fields off the Loop 101. Next, the stadium was sponsored by the University of Phoenix and the name was changed. Then shoppers and sportsmen flocked to the grand opening of Cabela's, complete with indoor trout pond and a Disneyland-like taxidermy display.

And now, Scottsdale is being given a run for its money with the new urban Westgate City Center, a totally created entertainment and shopping village built on, you guessed it, dusty old cotton fields. Its exciting to experience the energy and creativity. And, we hope the Bellagio-like fountain will keep the dust down! Photo Courtesy: Westgate City Center
