1,000 Places to See Before You Die - What Southwest Hot Spot is On Your List?

Monday March 5, 2007
There's a new show starting on the Travel Channel. Inspired by Patricia Schultz' best-selling travel book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die chronicles the journey of a young couple who put their lives on hold to travel the world for 14 weeks. I don't know what will be included. The couple is from Colorado, so will they value the beauty of the Southwest as one of the 100 places they visit? What are your top places that anyone should see before they die? My top recommendation is the Grand Canyon! Just post a comment to make your recommendation.

I’d put in a vote for Canyon de Chelly as one of the top places, but not the top.

I heard that the first two shows will appear on March 29. The first is Alaska at 9 p.m. and the second is Italy at 10 p.m. By the way, the sequel, “1000 Places to See in the USA and Canada” will be coming out in May or June. That should keep us all busy for a while!

I agree with your choice. The Grand Canyon is just unbelievable!

There’s so much natural beauty in the southwest that you’re spoiled for choice. I’d add Bryce Canyon and Arches National Parks in Utah to the list. I also think everyone should take a slide down Slick Rock outside Sedona, AZ at least once in a lifetime.

The Grand Tetons when the grass is turning green, flowers are blooming, the mountains are stil snow capped and the ponds and lakes are still frozen over is amazing. I’d also highly recommend seeing Sandia Peak, Niagara Falls, Grand Canyons, Mount Washington, and Yellowstone National Forest for USA/Canada visits (I am going to New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia this year so I am sure more amazing ideas will come from those adventures)

Bryce Canyon is one of our families favorites along with Mesa Verde and the Great Sanddunes.

I liked Bryce and the hoodoos also but I was really taken with Monument Valley. Liz
