Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auctions Definding their Honor in Court
Sunday March 18, 2007
Last January, we saw cars auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction for millions and were thrilled to experience the auction of Carl Shelby's 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Supersnake for a cool $5 Million. But now, the drama is in Court. When a Michigan judge's 1970 Hemi 'Cuda sold for $300,000 at Scottsdale's Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in January, the car was sold too quickly, its seller says. He thinks his car should have fetched $700,000 to $1 million. As we hear the tale told, David Clabuesch, the former owner of the car, chained the car's wheels to the auction tent and put up a sign calling the sale void. Barrett-Jackson is suing him in U.S. District Court in Phoenix for "outrageous and defamatory actions," and is hoping to set the record straight and uphold the company's reputation. More on the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction.
