Southwest Airlines Announces Big Change in Drink Coupon Policy - No Change on Seating Policy

Thursday March 29, 2007
Southwest Airlines announced a "One Drink, One Price, One Drink Coupon" policy. Starting April 1, all alcoholic beverages served onboard Southwest flights will be offered at a "one price fits all" cost of $4 per drink. As such, the price for beer or wine will increase from $3 to $4 per drink.

Starting April 1, the ever-popular Drink Coupon Books will have a new look and simplified redemption. With the new coupons, your favorite beer, wine, or mixed drink is now only one coupon away!

The new Drink Coupon Books can be purchased for $12 at Southwest airport ticket counters, and, as always, you will continue to receive a Drink Coupon Book when you receive a Rapid Rewards Award (unless you have indicated that you don't wish to receive Drink Coupons). If you still have a stash of the old books, don't worry, the Flight Attendants will continue to accept those, too, at the published exchange rate of 3 coupons for beer and wine, and 4 coupons for mixed drinks.
