McCain's Sedona Cabin Actually Far from the Red Rocks of Sedona... It's in Cornville, AZ
Monday March 3, 2008
10/20/08 Update: Ok, I have now driven the route and indeed, my readers are correct... the ranch is about 15 minutes from Sedona. However, it "feels" very far from the Red Rocks. The Cornville area is full of cottonwoods and meadows with no Red Rocks in easy sight.
As McCain barbqued ribs at his retreat in Arizona, those far from the Southwest reported he was at his "Sedona Cabin." Actuall Cornville, the area where he owns the property, is at least a half hour from Sedona and far from the beautiful red rocks. It's in the Verde Valley, an area having its own charm. Here's a map of the Cornville area. This area is rolling, rocky grasslands with cottonwoods lining creeks. It's a far cry from the stunning Sedona red rock vistas and mysterious vortexes.

Have you been to Cornville? Its beautiful. I was just there today, found it by accident as I was leaving Sedona, great wine region. Cornville and McCain’s retreat is less than 10 min from the heart of Sedona, and yes the mailing address of his retreat is Sedona, and you can see the red rocks.
My guess is that including the dirt road, it’s a bit farther from central Sedona. I agree. It’s a beautiful area. I visited a winery there while writing this article: http://gosw.about.com/od/bestdaytrip1/a/sedonawine.htm
Born and raised in Cornville, live in Cottonwood now. I am 26. Cornville has a charm of its own without the sedona price tag. And its only like 20 minutes to its beauty. McCain just knows Sedona is known, Cornville is not.
Born and raised in Cornville also,25 years and still choose to live here. People who are to high and mighty to claim that they live in Cornville shouldn’t live here. Let them have Sedona! Also the last time I read Webster a ranch was defined as a place where livestock is raised would contain more than 6 acres! Vince you are either totaly dishonest or truley misguided, or never been to this area! There are no Red Rocks visable from the McCain home. McCain may have a post office box in Sedona, But his property address is in the Cornville area Zip code. His home is in Cornville. If he doesn’t like the name he should sell and move to Sedona!!!You could never have made the trip from Sedona to Cornville in 10 minutes Jet mabe—–
I thought McCain’s property is in Page Springs. At least the dirt road (Hidden Valley Rd.) that leads to his driveway is off of Page Springs road. Vince is right, it is less than 10 mins from the heart of Sedona. His property is right on Oak Creek and because of that it sits down low in this secluded valley. If it was up high, the red rocks of Sedona would be visible.
Zip code 86325 is Cornville. McCain’s property is located in Cornville plain and simple. There is no page springs post office. Heck, if it was “up high” enough, you could see Camp Verde. Does that mean he lives in Camp Verde too?
His property is in Cornville. That is the zip code no matter what road you live off of. It is off Page Springs Road, not the town, city or village of Page springs, IT IS CORNVILLE and we love it here. It is quiet, charming and beautiful. It has just has much charm as Sedona and we want to keep it that way. If you don’t want to say Cornville, then don’t live here
Bottom line is that it’s all expensive real estate and McCain is close enough to Sedona to take his 9-car motorcade there to get his latte from Starbucks. But that’s what I’d expect from a guy who wears $520 shoes.
Elizabeth might like to re-look at her 1/2 hour away from Sedona comment. It is less than 10 minutes. Cornville is awesome and quiet….we’d like to keep it that way. As the Arizona Republic wrote “Cornville…a spot on the road.”
Sedona, Cornville, Page Springs who gives a hoot - it all just down the road a piece. Go John McCain
Hey my friend lives basically next to his house and we drove down there one day to see what it looks like and it is HUGE. its more like a ranch thing but its about 10 minutes down a horrible dirt road. you can’t see any red rocks from there but he has probably the biggest lawn in the county! And yes it is more specifically down Page Springs road in Cornville.
