Touring the Georgia O'Keeffe Country of Northern New Mexico

By January 2, 2009

Follow me on:

One of my fondest memories of 2008 travels was of seeing northern New Mexico through the eyes of artist, Georgia O'Keeffe. As we traveled New Mexico we began our exploration of O'Keeffe Country at the Georgia O'Keeffe museum in Santa Fe. The exhibit, Georgia O'Keeffe and the Camera: The Art of Identity helped us gain insight into the life and work of the artist and readied us for our trip to the countryside.

We traveled first to Ghost Ranch and had the pleasure of touring the ranch and seeing the actual landscapes that inspired many of her paintings. We then headed for the village of Abiquiu where we toured her home and studio, left just as it was when she moved to Santa Fe prior to her death at age 99.

You, too, can have this marvelous O'Keeffe Country experience. Just follow in our footsteps and make the appropriate reservations and you'll be as awestruck as I was last year. Full Article: Guide to Traveling O'Keeffe Country
