Guide Review - The Artist's Palate Restaurant - Tubac, Arizona
We enjoyed a sunny winter day in Tubac and, after walking the river-side de Anza Trail, headed over to the new Barrio de Tubac area. On our way a new restaurant caught our eye... The Artist's Palate. Located prominently in the new Plaza de Anza, this restaurant is in pleasant walking distance from the Tubac historic areas as well as from the new Barrio de Tubac homes.

An offering of specials was posted outside. $5.00 Margaritas, a Veal Parmesan sandwich and more. We entered the restaurant and were seated at a table near the window. There is also outside dining. The decor was bright and cheerful, typically new Tubac and the art on the walls was colorful and local.

We weren't prepared for the quality of the food and service. The quality was reminiscent of upscale casual dining in Santa Fe or Sedona. I ordered one of the specials, Veal Parmesan sandwich, which came with soup. The sandwich was served on a freshly baked roll. My friend enjoyed a Ruben Sandwich. We both fell for the Margaritas. The Margarita was excellent, a cut above the usual and the price of the special was very reasonable.

We noticed some of the very interesting dinner items on the menu and vowed to return. The offerings ranged from Chicken Marsala at $18.95 to Lamb Loin Chops at $32.95. Main courses, termed "Masterpieces" are served with soup or house salad. Also offered are pasta dishes, Mona Lisa's Pizzas and "Finishing Touches" aka desserts.

Judging from the quality of the lunches we enjoyed, the dinners would be worth a trip to Tubac.
