Where's Cave Creek?:
Just off I-17, take the Carefree Highway exit and travel east to Cave Creek. Carefree Highway? Yes, indeed. And as you travel through the cactus studded hills lined with New Mexico-style homes, you will begin to feel truly "care free." Map
Shopping:
Cave Creek is a great place for fun shopping. From Mexican imports to designer stone fountains, you can find lots of interesting shops along the Cave Creek main drag.
Dining:
Dining is as eclectic as is Cave Creek. I once had a marvelous gourmet French lunch at Le Sans Souci at 7030 E Bella Vista Dr. There are gorgeous views from the restaurant. But my usual hang-out in Cave Creek is El Encanto Mexican restaurant. It's the one on the main road with the shaded courtyard and duck pond.
Horseback Riding:
A great way to experience the hills around Cave Creek and Spur Cross Ranch Park is on horseback. MTM Ranch on N. Spur Cross Road is a great place to go. We rode with them a couple of years ago and had a great ride with fantastic views of Cave Creek.
Hiking:
Spur Cross Ranch Park is one of my favorites. A creek runs through the park and, at times, you'll need to wade to continue along the trail. It's a great place for wildflowers. Consider a ranger-led hike. Park website.
