About Starr Pass Resort:
Starr Pass Resort, set in the beautiful Saguaro forest high above Tucson, has 575 spacious guestrooms and 35 suites each featuring a private patio or balcony. The resort was opened in 2005. Pools, restauants, golf courses, a spa, children's club and a myriad of activities make Starr Pass a destination in itself.
Golf:
The newly redesigned Starr Pass Tucson Golf Club, a 27-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Facility, offers stunning views of Tucson and surrounding Arizona mountain ranges. The courses are in natural settings which makes playing the courses fun and challenging.
The Property:
Imagine driving a winding road surrounded by beautiful desert landscape. High above Tucson, rising from the hills like an ancient pueblo village, is the stunning Starr Pass Resort. Nestled in the rolling hills of the Saguaro forest are the challenging golf courses and resort pools.
Decor:
Starr Pass has done a beautiful job of integrating the building design into the natural landscape. Arroyos, washes and cacti disturbed during construction, have been carefully replaced to maintain the natural balance and water flow of the area. Lobby and public areas of the resort take advantage of the hillside location with huge floor to ceiling windows and decks for outdoor dining.
Dining:
The resort has several choices for dining including the world class Primo Restaurant headed up by James Beard Award-winning Chef Melissa Kelly. The fresh, flavorful and creative cuisine is inspired by the cuisine of Italy, Spain and France. The more casual Signature Grill also offers excellent food and views of Tucson. Poolside, head for Plunge for salads, burgers and beverages.

Rates vary according to season. Fantastic special packages are offered via the Marriott website. In general, a couple can expect to pay a minimum of $179 during the off-season.

The Marriott Starr Pass Resort is resort destination located six miles west of downtown Tucson, high above the city amidst the Tucson Mountain Park, a 20,000 acre natural preserve.
This new hotel is decorated in warm golds and terra cotta. Natural touches are found throughout Starr Pass, including ceilings crafted from Saguaro-cactus spines and floors and walls hewn from rock. Floor to ceiling windows bring the outside in to take advantage of the natural beauty.
After you settle into your room and admire the view, head down to the Conceirge desk and ask about activities. You may find yourself on a mountain bike tour of the desert, enjoying an outdoor Western act (we had the pleasure of watching a championship roper perform).
If you golf, you will love the challenging Arnold Palmer designed golf courses. Each is 9 holes for a total of 27.
On the spacious outdoor patio, just a sunset, the immense glass doors in front of Salud, the Tequila Bar, are opened and staff leads guests in a complimentary Tequila Toast. After the toast, consider heading for Primo Restaurant, for the best Mediterranian cuisine you have probably experienced. Watch the chefs prepare your meal in their state of the art exhibition kitchen.
If you are having trouble selecting a package deal for the season, I would highly suggest Marriott's Primo Package which, at this writing (June 2007) offered a deluxe room for two, a three-course dinner at Primo followed by a full breakfast in Signature Grill.
Don't forget to allow plenty of time to enjoy lounging by the pool. There are trees, umbrellas and cabanas for shade. Wait staff delivers drinks, appetizers and sandwiches to you at poolside.
Indulge in the luxuries of Starr Pass Resort, allow yourself to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Saguaro studded desert.
