Sedona Back Country - Sun or Moon Pictograph

Moon or Sun Pictograph in Sedona Canyon

Moon or Sun Pictograph in Sedona Canyon

Elizabeth R. Mitchell
One of the pictographs was of a sun or moon, both important in early cultures. For the seasons and the telling of time, was dependent on the phases of the moon and the location of the sun in the sky. These agrarian people would place high value on the sun and moon.

We know that we are not the only hikers to have found this spot and believe there are researchers and people more knowledgeable than we are about the meaning of the pictographs. We hope to hear from you and add your stories to the narrative of our photographs. E-mail us!
