Heading to Canyon Villa Inn

I drove along Highway 179 through the beautiful Red Rocks, gazing at the vistas and stopping to snap photos. Once I reached the Oak Creek Village area, I was told turn right at the stop light and take a short trip down Bell Rock Road and then turn right at Canyon Circle. Just off Highway 179 was an oasis of peace and beauty. Even though the Canyon Villa Inn is in a residential area, it backs up against the State Park and has the feeling of isolation in the beautiful Arizona Red Rock countryside.

First Impressions - Luxury, Warmth and Beauty

The owners and innkeepers, Peg and Les Belch, live on the property. They treat guests at the inn as guests in their own villa-like home. No detail is overlooked. They are knowledgeable and genuinely want guests to enjoy their stay in the area.

My first impression of the inn was that it was quiet and serene. The breathtaking beauty of the Red Rocks viewed out of most every window is best enjoyed quietly. The rooms are equally as lovely and very comfortable.

Enjoying the Inn

The inn was designed to be a Bed and Breakfast. It was built to maximize the views of the Red Rocks. From the large dining area to the pool with outdoor fireplace, this inn is the one to choose if you appreciate beauty and love the Red Rocks. The common areas, in addition to the spacious dining room, include a living area with fireplace, library with computer, gift shop and office, and outdoor patios.

The inn is built with two stories. It would be hard to choose between a second floor room with unobstructed views of the Red Rocks and a first floor room with semi-private patio with fountain and lovely flower gardens.

The location of the inn is ideal if you are on your way from the Phoenix area to the Grand Canyon. Several guests at breakfast spoke about their plans to drive to the Grand Canyon and stay overnight on the South Rim. It would be a scenic and comforatable drive from the Inn.

Activities

Once you are fully rested, you may want to venture out into the desert. From the inn you can access a pathway for a nice walk to enjoy the Red Rock view. Not far from the inn you can head out along the Bell Rock Pathway. Be sure and carry water.

There are a myriad of activities available in the area. Just ask the innkeepers. You may find yourself on a jeep trip, or horseback ride. There is something for every level of activity and interest.

Rooms

Most rooms have a King or Queen bed and those ever-present Red Rock views. Enjoy being outside on a patio or balcony. Many rooms have fireplaces to warm the cool desert evenings. Rooms are beautifully appointed with comfort and style in mind. As with the inn, the rooms are quiet and any highway noise is masked by the bubbling fountains in the garden.

I enjoyed the Mariposa Room with king bed, tons of pillows, a lovely gas fireplace, desk and grand bath with jetted tub and separate shower. Just outside the french doors was a garden and fountain. The pool was just steps away down a grass-lined path and through the garden gate.

Rates

The Mariposa, a king room, with Red Rock views from bedside and patio(Ground Floor), including gourmet breakfast for two plus hors d'oeuvres, was $314 regular rate, $298 AAA/AARP and $284 July & August(2006 rates). Other rooms range from $199 to $324. The Ocotillo is the room that runs $324 per night and is touted as "Quite Possibly the Best View Room in Sedona." It is a king room with Red Rock views from bedside and Deck (2nd story corner).
