About the Resort:
One of the best things about the Amara Creekside is that it is located in Uptown Sedona, close to everything, yet is tucked down into a tree-lined canyon with beautiful Oak Creek providing a calming effect. Fairly new, the Amara was opened in 2003. It's hip, contemporary decor and fine art makes the Amara stand apart from the typical Southwest decorated inns of the area. The Amara recently opened an Elemis full service spa.
The Gallery Restaurant:
Dining in an art gallery? The Gallery Restaurant at Amara Creekside serves artfully prepared four-diamond meals to diners amidst works of art from local artists. All this and a view of the resort terrace and Sedona Red Rocks! After your meal, have a glass of wine or cup of coffee out by the large fire pit. It's a great way to end a relaxing day in Sedona.
Spa Services:
The Amara Spa, an Elemis full-service spa, provides eclectic spa treaments reflecting the beauty, spirit and traditions of both Eastern and Western cultures. Amara Creekside- Relaxing Stay in Sedona's Red Rocks:
As we drove down the hill from busy Uptown Sedona, we passed terraced parking lots with gorgeous views of the Sedona Red Rocks. "What a great view from the parking lot," I thought! We pulled into the circular dive to the Amara Creekside Resort and experienced a first hint of the excellent customer service ever-present at the resort. Free valet parking was offered and assistance with our luggage was encouraged... all with a smile.
Once we entered the lobby we knew we were in for a treat. Fine art hung on the walls between the lobby and The Gallery Restaurant, colors were simple and current, and furniture was contemporary. Our room, we found, was ready early and we were led through the hallway off the lobby to our relaxing room with a view of the courtyard. Having an extra hour or so, we decided to explore the property and headed down a staircase to Oak Creek. A nice little trail took us along the creek. We enjoyed the ducks and the water cascading over rocks.
At Amara, the balconies and patios that each room enjoys, are put to good use. People get so relaxed, they sit outside in their Amara robes reading the paper or sipping wine. It's that kind of place. You will relax! We enjoyed the comfy pillow-top mattresses and crisp white linen and found the room to be quiet, even though there was a wedding party there with lots of excited twenty-somethings.
Dining on the terrace, especially for breakfast, is not to be missed. The food is excellent, albeit pricey. In the evening, set aside some time to relax by the resort's large firepit.
You will experience little surprises at Amara... whether it's a hummingbird stopping by the bushes by your patio, or a high flying crane heading toward the creek. Just off the grassy courtyard, is a massive sculpture of two hands. A large bird landed on the sculpture one morning as I sat on the patio. I thought, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!" (Well, you have to be there to see it.)
We highly recommend The Amara Creekside Resort for it's central location and relaxing services. The resort is upscale, yet due to the friendliness of the staff, and outdoor amenities, is a place where you can be as casual as you wish.
