Enjoying the Desert Rose Bed and Breakfast:

You can't beat the Desert Rose for value and convenience. Within minutes we were enjoying the Verde Valley Wine Trail, hiking the riverside trails of Dead Horse Ranch State Park, and photographing the red rocks of Sedona at Red Rock Crossing.

Just before sundown is a marvelous time to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck listening to the birds and discussing plans for the next day.

In the evening we had the choice of going in to Cottonwood for dinner, taking in dinner and show at Blazin' M Ranch, or, my preference, enjoying a leisurely meal at The Manzanita Restaurant in nearby Cornville.

Since the Desert Rose is in a semi-rural area you'll find a few surprises. As I sipped my morning orange juice on the large deck, I saw birds building nests in the tall trees, a hummingbird looking for nectar, and the house kitties looking for a bit of affection. You may be surprised, as I was, to find that the owners go one step further in the pet department. They have pet turkeys. I had never been close to turkeys before and really enjoyed watching them run across the lawn and, at night, quietly roosting in their coop.
