About Glendale Glitters:
Glendale, Arizona, just west of Phoenix, is home to the largest display of holiday lights in Arizona. But Glendale Glitters is so much more. The event which runs from Thanksgiving weekend through the Bowl game weekends in January offers beauty, entertainment, spectacular special events, food and shopping. Glendale Glitters holiday lights, which now total 1.4 million, attracts more than 300,000 visitors every year.
Glendale Glitters Kick Off Events:
Glendale Glitters Spectacular Weekend is the event's kick off weekend with all of the favorite features from years past, but also brand new, entertaining elements for all ages! The kick-off to Arizona's largest holiday light display is an exciting introduction to the holiday season. The lights come on at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Complex Amphitheater just west of Murphy Park. Enjoy music, visits from Santa and those traditional carriage rides.
Glendale Glitters Enchanted Evenings:
Throughout the holiday season, enjoy shopping in Glendale's historic district, the beautiful light displays and horse-drawn carriage rides. Just head on down to central Glendale and Murphy Park to enjoy the evenings.
About the Horse-drawn Carriage Rides:
The carriage rides can seat 4-6 people and the ride is approximately 10 minutes long. The cost is $25 per ride (not per passenger).
The carriages will be available nightly through Glitter & Glow, including Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. On non-event nights, the rides are available from 6 - 9 p.m. On event nights, they are available during event hours.
Finding Glendale Glitters:
The main events are located in the historic Downtown Glendale shopping area at 58th and Glendale Avenues.
From Loop 101 — exit on 59th Avenue. Travel south approximately 9 miles to Glendale Avenue.
From Interstate 17 — exit on Glendale Avenue and travel west approximately 5 miles to 59th Avenue. The historic shopping area is located at the northeast quadrant of 59th and Glendale Avenues.
Both the Glendale Glitters event and parking is free. But bring plenty of money for food, craft purchases, and a carriage ride.
Parking and Shuttles:
City officials encourage those attending the event to use the free shuttle service at the First Southern Baptist Church parking lot, located off of 59th Avenue, just south of Peoria. Shuttles are constantly running from 5 p.m. until after the event concludes at 10 p.m. Handicapped parking is available at either the downtown City Hall garage, or the shuttle location, which provides a handicap-accessible bus.
