Photo Tour of the Phoenix Heard Museum Spanish Market

The Heard schedules featured artists to create works right on site, in the public studio. This year's featured Spanish Market artist was Hector Ruiz. He worked in the artist-in-residence studio all weekend. Ruiz, whose work is shown in the special exhibit Hector Ruiz: La Realidid (Reality), is a painter, wood carver, printmaker and papier maché artist.

His work focuses on themes of immigration, border issues and overcoming stereotypes. Ruiz worked in the studio and visitors to Spanish Market stopped by to admire and talk with the artist about his work.
