Monte Vista Article Part IThe Future
After finally getting it and realizing that the Monte Vista has a life of its own that just keeps on rolling through the decades, I asked Julie Anne, the manager, what is planned for the future. As a historic hotel, The Monte Vista takes great pains to remain true to historic design. The hotel had recently replaced all the beds and was awarded a grant to replace the windows with double paned, historically correct windows. The noise will be reduced yet the windows will look the same as they have over the years. As with any historic building, there are endless renovation projects to take on. Room carpeting will be replaced, painting will be upgraded and, in the old Post Office building, they look forward to a cooking store, complete with gourmet cooking classes. Recently The Rendezvous, a combination coffee house and martini bar was opened and just off the lobby, is a fun clothing shop where you can buy a great cotton summer dress. In the restaurant space, is a Thai restaurant, Racha Thai.
The Hotel Monte Vista is a family-owned business. It is not part of a chain, and probably never will be. The hotel and its décor defies description. Lets just say its eclectic and will never be pigeon-holed. The ghosts still walk the halls and inhabit some rooms, and visitors return time after time. There is a draw to this magical place. Asked, what she would like to see happen with the hotel, Julie Anne replied, I would like to attract more current actors and actresses to the hotel wed like to rename some of the rooms.
Despite not running into any ghosts, our stay, also, was memorable.
