Best Historic HotelThe Copper Queen Hotel and Bisbee Grand Hotel come in neck and neck for this category. The Copper Queen is a historic Bisbee mainstay, has a lovely restaurant and deck for outdoor dining. The Copper Queen Hotel was built in 1902 during the heyday of the Bisbee mining camps. The Copper Queen is still elegant and attracts visitors who love the local history. Rooms are very like fine hotel rooms of yesteryear. Copper Queen Website.
The Bisbee Grand Hotel also has quite a history. Constructed in 1906 and restored in 1986 in Old West Victorian style, the bed and breakfast hotel features six suites. The rooms are all themed and some tend toward gaudy historic. Its a fun place to explore and, with a saloon next door, you can envision it as a place where gentlemen might have stayed after a night on the town. Bisbee Grand Hotel Website
Both of these historic hotels are in the middle of the historic district.
Most Fun and Fanciful Inn
I have to say that the School House Inn, housed in a historic school is a fun place to stay. Not only is it decorated in schoolhouse theme, and the building has retained original room designations (music room, library, etc.), the rooms are spacious and comfortable. School House Inn is a historic brick school built in 1918 at the height of Bisbee's mining days. The décor and accents throughout the rooms, halls, breakfast room and garden all make for a very interesting place. The School House Inn is a couple miles up Tombstone Canyon so it doesnt make for an easy walk to central Bisbee. However, parking is good and you can take your car to dinner or shopping. Its a quiet and fun place. Schoolhouse Inn Website.
Bottom Line You Have to Stay in Bisbee
Ive spent the day in Bisbee before, but you have to spend the night, or a weekend to get he feel of this historic mining town. There is so much to see and experience. Each Inn is different and it would be great fun to experience them all. Even in the hot Arizona summer, Bisbee is a great destination. Most of these inns have great air conditioning. That takes care of comfort during the day. But, at night, the desert naturally cools off and will make for a great retreat from the heat of lower elevations.
