Ranch House Transformed to Luxurious Spa

In the days of the Old West, when a spa treatment would have been ideal after a long cattle drive or a cross-country wagon trip, they just didn’t have them. A Saturday night bath in a galvanized metal tub was as good as it got.

In keeping with the spirit of the Old West, the folks at Rancho de Los Caballeros have taken a ranch house, completely remodeled it, and developed a menu of relaxing treatments, many of which include ingredients grown right on the ranch, to provide their discriminating guests with the spa experiences they have been asking for.

Life’s Path and the Labyrinth

Guests access the spa by taking a short trail from the main lodge, crossing a bridge and entering a peaceful courtyard with a flowing fountain. Inside the Spa building guests can relax in the sunroom or head out back to the specially constructed desert labyrinth. With a view of Vulture Peak and the gently rising mountains, you can walk the labyrinth in many ways. Some walk the labyrinth to reflect on their life’s journey. As you walk, ponder your goals, open your mind to the chirping of the birds and the light winds flowing through your hair. Walk to your goal and be mindful of what you experience. With the quiet you may find yourself solving some of your life problems, and removing barriers to your life’s goals.

Body Care

Once you have cleansed your mind, it’s time for some desert treatments for your body. You can partake of a down home Milk Bath or Herbal Bath. Desert Scrubs and Desert Wraps are available to relax and revitalize your entire body. Baths can be taken in a claw-foot tub.

Facials

The spa’s trained professionals help guests choose facials to sooth sun-ravaged skin. Facial treatments include a relaxing hand and arm massage and relaxing foot massage.

I tried the Desert Pearl Facial and not only came away relaxed, my face just glowed!

I then made an appointment for the next day to discuss the Spa's Younglbood line of mineral based products. I found them easy to use and very reasonably priced.

There’s even something for the guys… the Los Caballeros Grooming Facial. Once the cowboy’s skin is refreshed, the treatment ends with a grooming of the eyebrows, ears and nose.

Massage

With all the hiking, golf and horseback riding going on at Rancho de los Caballeros, it’s no surprise that the most popular spa treatments are massages. They offer a variety of massage treatments including a couple’s massage in a relaxing casita with kiva fireplace. The massage offerings range from the “Tranquility Massage,” to the “Golfer’s Relief.” The Hassayampa Stone Massage caught my eye. The Ranch describes this river stone massage….”Surrender to the penetrating warmth of smooth, heated river stones. Allow the weight of the stones and the power of aromatherapy to relax tightened muscles, release tension and elevate you to a state of total relaxation.”

Hand and Foot Therapies

In a ranch house style room with southwest furniture you can receive a pedicure or manicure. Manicurists care for your nails over an antique sewing machine table. For pedicures, your feet will be soaked in a metal bowl lined with river stone.

Manicures and pedicures range from therapeutic treatment wraps and massage to the “Galloping Manicure” which rejuvenates your nails and gets you out the door ready for dinner in just 30 minutes.

Spa Packages

All these inviting indugences can be overwhelming. And you’re at the spa to relax, right? So choose a package and indulge in a pre-planned menu of options sure to leave you healthier and more relaxed. Want to spend a day at the Spa? How about the 4 hour “Desert Labyrinth Ritual” package? For $325 you can begin with a labyrinth walk, enjoy herbal tea, followed by the Ranch House Hohokam Massage and Desert Pearl Facial. Enjoy a Southwest Pedicure and Retreat Wrap Manicure. You will leave feeling renewed and invigorated.
