Don't Go in Winter!:
The road to Cedar Breaks is snowed in and the visitors center is closed during the colder months of the year. Check the website before you make plans to go.Cedar Breaks Hoodoos and Amphitheater:
The main reason to visit Cedar Breaks is to see the colors of the limestone formations called hoodoos. There are more than fifty different hues in the Cedar Breaks hoodoos. The extreme erosion at the National Monument has left an immense "amphitheater." You can take a five-mile rim drive and stop at four view points. The Cedar Breaks Visitor Center is at Point Supreme. From early June to mid-October, the visitor center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..Camping:
There is a campground at Point Supreme. There are 28 campsites and some are big enough for self-contained RVs. Water and toilets are available.Dark Skies and Star Parties:
Cedar Breaks National Monument has some of the darkest night skies in the country. As Southwestern Utah grows and develops, light pollution in the form of stray artificial light is a growing problem which masks the beauty and intensity of a dark starlit sky. In the high elevation night skies of Cedar Breaks, the stars shine nearly as bright as they did in the time before the invention of the light bulb. More on Cedar Breaks skies and Star Parties.
